Today is the 48th anniversary of Queen's "A Night at the Opera"and this Friday marks 32 years since Freddie Mercury passed away. Let's take a look at some fun facts from the Queen album "A Night at the Opera" to honor its anniversary and the late singer.
1. Wayne's World
Mike Myers demanded 'Bohemian Rhapsody' for the famous headbanging scene in "Wayne's World" and even threatened to quite the film unless it was used. According to Brian May, Freddie Mercury saw the scene before his death and found it hilarious, thus approving the use of the song in the film. Mercury would die a few months beofre the film's release.
2. Myers made a comeo in the 2018 Queen biopic
26 years later, Myers would be saying the song wasn't for headbanging in the 2018 biopic "Bohemian Rhapsody" as Ray Foster, a fictional EMI executive.
3. The song peaked at number nine in 1976, but reached a new peak of number two after appearing in the 1992 film Wayne's World
4. Following the release of the 2018 biopic, it became the most streamed song from the 20th century
Mercury also wrote a lot of 'Boh Rap' on a phonebook.
5. "You're My Best Friend" was the second song and first Queen single to be written by John Deacon
He'd later go on to write Queen hit 'I Want to Break Free.'
6. 'I'm in Love with My Car' was was initially taken as a joke by Brian May
