Artist: Ferry Townes

Genre: Alternative

26-year-old, emerging indie voice Ferry Townes, aka Julia Gargano, is one of 2024’s most promising young singer-songwriters. Born and raised in Staten Island, her new project Ferry Townes pays homage to New York City and The Staten Island Ferry, a vivid symbol of Julia’s teen years commuting to LaGuardia high school. Chilly mornings watching the Statue of Liberty pass by, playing legendary venue The Bitter End since she was 13, getting a slice on Arthur Ave in The Bronx, these are all sensory memories and inspirations woven into her debut album due out this summer.

With rich vocals reminiscent of contemporary R&B singer Charlotte Day Wilson, Ferry Townes sets Taylor Swift-like lyrics to driving rhythms that recall HAIM or boygenius. Signed to famed LA record spot Licorice Pizza Records helmed by Kerry Brown (Rolling Live Studios), you’ll be hearing a lot more from her in the coming months.
