Dirty Dancing

Taking place in the summer of 1963, 1987's "Dirty Dancing" is the perfect summer flick. A combo of sexy dances, great music and kooky Catskill hijinks make this a summer classic guaranteed to melt your popsicle!

The soundtrack is a blend of early 60s sounds with artists like the Ronettes and Otis Redding mixed with new sounds of the late 80s with original tunes like 'Hungry Eyes' and Patrick Swazye's single 'She's Like the Wind'.

"That was before President Kennedy was shot, before the Beatles came" says Baby (our heroine) in the opening scene as Frankie Valli sings on the car radio. The film is set on the brink of a musical turning point in history.

The hotel staffers have their late night parties, dancing rougher than allowed on the main floor, bumping and grinding. Billy, a borderline cool kid, tells Baby the kids were dancing like that in the basements back home. She is exposed to a new world where music and dance is a love language. Who knew a week in the Catskills could change your life? Baby will never be put in a corner again!

Favorite song from the film: Love Man, Otis Redding
