Heroes
On this day in 1977, David Bowie released his twelfth studio album "Heroes". Let's take a deeper look!
David Bowie composed a lot of the tracks on the spot
Some lyrics were not even written until he stood in front of the microphone.

Along with Iggy Pop's cover for his album "The Idiot" that Bowie produced.
The album was an immediate commercial success
"Heroes" peaked at number 3 in the UK and number 35 in the US.
It was the second album for Bowie's Berlin Trilogy
with "Heroes" following "Low" and preceding "Lodger."

The song 'Heroes' was used in a pivotal scene for the 1981 German film "Christiane F." with Bowie as producer and as himself.
Influence on other musicians
John Lennon stated when making "Double Fantasy" he wanted to "do something as good as 'Heroes'". U2 recorded "Achtung Baby" (1991) at Hansa by the Wall in Berlin to honour Bowie. Their album, along with "Heroes", was produced by Brian Eno. And composer Philip Glass adapted the album into a classical piece, titled "Heroes" Symphony.
