First rule on covering The Beatles: DON'T COVER THE BEATLES, but if you do...

In no particular order...here are my favorite Beatles covers.

1. Fiona Apple - Across the Universe

2. Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Dhani Harrison, Prince, Steve Winwood and friends - While My Guitar Gently Weeps

An amazing tribute at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame inductions in 2004. Featuring Harrison's son and close friends and collaborators. It is class on class.

3. Jackson Browne - Across the Universe

Bonus: He also did a lovely tribute of Lennon's solo track 'Oh My Love' from the "Imagine" album. And he also shares a birthday with the late Beatle!

4. Joe Cocker - She Came In Through the Bathroom Window AND With A Little Help From My Friends

5. Stevie Wonder - We Can Work It Out

6. Wilson Pickett with Tom Jones - Hey Jude

7. Jimi Hendrix - Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

Paul McCartney credits this cover for the song's success!

8. The Rolling Stones - I Wanna Be Your Man

Okay, technically not a cover as it was gifted to the Stones by Paul and John. The Beatles would release their own version later with Ringo on lead vocals.

11. Jim Sturges - Something

Featured in the film "Across the Universe". It's a more stripped down version of the song which makes it so beautiful in my opinion.

13. Neil Young with Paul McCartney - Why Don't We Do It In The Road?

Finally, the Desert Trip second weekend performance of Neil Young ripping on 'Why Don't We Do It in the Road?' with Sir. Paul. I am so lucky to have gotten to see this one live. A memory I will cherish forever.
