The Best Rolling Stones Covers
In no particular order, here are some of my favorite Rolling Stones covers. Ready? Let's go!
1. Jumpin Jack Flash - Aretha Franklin
The song was used in the 1986 film of the same name starring Whoopi Goldberg.
2. Under My Thumb - Hounds
This cover was used in the 1979 film "Skatetown USA" starring Patrick Swayze.
3. Let's Spend the Night Together - Amazonics
4. No Expectations - Joan Baez
5. Wild Horses - The Flying Burrito Brothers
Although written by the Rolling Stones, it was first released in 1970 by The Flying Burrito Brothers as the Stones didn't think the demo was worth recording fully. It was subsequently recorded by the Stones for their 1971 album Sticky Fingers. Check out First Aid Kit's "Wild Horses II" for a beautiful tribute to the song.
6. Beast of Burden - Bette Midler
Check out her performing it with Mick Jagger himself!
7. Jumpin' Jack Flash - Thelma Houston
8. Tumbling Dice - Linda Ronstadt
9. Marie douceur Marie colère (Paint It, Black) - Marie Laforêt
This cover was used in films "Talladega Nights" and "John Wick 4".
10. Start Me Up - Glee Cast
Although a mashup with "Livin' on a Prayer", Amber Riley absolutely kills it on the "Start Me Up" section (at 0:44!)
11. As Tears Go By - Marianne Faithfull
12. Mercy, Mercy - Wilson Pickett
Although originally by Don Covay, Pickett's version (1966) followed the Stones' release (1965).
13. Paint it Black - U2
14. Brown Sugar - Little Richard
15. Let's Spend the Night Together - Muddy Waters
16. Honky Tonk Woman - Joe Cocker
Featuring Leon Russell and friends!
