The Globe Sessions
Sheryl Crow's third studio album "The Globe Sessions" remains one of the artist's most unique collections.
After previous releases "Tuesday Night Music Club" and a self titled album, ''The Globe Sessions" was the start of a different direction for the 'All I Wanna Do' singer . The album contains unexpected covers such as the Guns and Roses hit, 'Sweet Child O' Mine' and Bob Dylan's 'Mississippi'. The latter was offered to Crow by Dylan before he recorded the track for his "Love and Theft" album in 2003 (Crow's was released in 1998). The song was later covered by the Chicks in a similar style to Crow.
The album holds rocky relationship songs written by Crow and collaborators. Crow's favorite single, 'My Favorite Mistake' is rumored to have been about her relationship with Eric Clapton. Other similar breakup songs include 'Anything But Down' and 'The Difficult Kind'.
Unfortunately the album was one of hundreds to have been destroyed in the 2008 fire at Universal Studios Hollywood. Any future reissues or remasters are unlikely as many alternate takes and unreleased tracks have been lost, making the current issue of "The Globe Sessions", even more valuable.
